The ANZAC troops arrived in Gallipoli at first light on April 25, 1915, beginning a legacy that would last long. The ANZAC Day Dawn Service echoed this moment when many soldiers took up arms.
April 25, ANZAC Day, commemorates the first significant military engagement conducted by Australian and New Zealand forces during World War I. To recognise the contributions and sacrifices of the first ANZACs and all the service personnel following in their footsteps, attend the main ANZAC Day activities in Burleigh Heads.
ANZAC DAY in Burleigh Heads
The major ANZAC Day event, held by RSL Burleigh Sub Branch, will feature the laying of wreaths, playing the Last Post, and observing a minute’s silence following time-honoured ANZAC Day customs.
The 2023 Anzac Day Dawn Service in Burleigh Heads is from 4:15 am – 5:30 am at the Cenotaph Memorial Park. The Anzac Day Ceremony, on the other hand, is at Memorial Park Burleigh Heads from 9:15 am – 11 am.
ANZAC DAY in Currumbin
The RSL Currumbin/Palm Beach Sub Branch also has ANZAC Day services. To honour all Australians and New Zealanders who have served in the military or made the ultimate sacrifice since World War I, you are invited to the 2023 ANZAC Day Dawn Service in Currumbin.
At 4:00 am, assembly and registration begin on the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s Village Green. Between 4:00 am and 6:30 am, Currumbin will hold its ANZAC Day Dawn Service.
RSL Currumbin/Palm Beach Sub Branch also has an ANZAC Day march or parade. The march is the heart of ANZAC Day observances and provides an opportunity to honour and demonstrate solidarity with past and present service members. The ANZAC Day parade recognises all who have served in the Australian and New Zealand Defense Forces by bringing current and former military members, cadets, and other community members together.
Gather in Winders Park in Currumbin at 10:35 am for a march starting at 10:55 am, followed by a memorial service at the Currumbin RSL Cenotaph. The main ANZAC Day ceremony at the Currumbin RSL Cenotaph is from 11:00 am to 11:40 am, as is the revered custom for ANZAC Day services.
